Mikhail M. Kuznetsov was born in 1919 in the Saratov Region.

From 1940 to 1944, he worked as an engineer at the Kazan Aircraft Production Association. After graduation from the Aircraft Building Department at KAI, he worked in Miass, a city in the Chelyabinsk Region at the Special Design Bureau No. 385 (later renamed to the Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau). He worked as an engineer, head of the department, deputy chief designer (1950-1975), since 1975 he became the Chief Designer of the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant.

Mikhail M. Kuznetsov participated in the development of the production of R-1, R-11, R-11M missiles at the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant, and the development of the R-17 missile and three generations of SLBM in terms of missile design. He was one of the developers of new technical solutions regarding missile design: all-welded sealed housings with a denser internal layout, which provided the factory fill with further ampulization; factory fill and ampulization; multi-layer dividing bottoms; the use of new structural materials based on aluminum alloys, which made it possible to significantly increase the energy-mass, operational and other quality parameters of missiles. He also made a great contribution to the production of rocket and space technology.
