Designer in the Field of Electronic Identification Systems, Director of the Kazan Research Institute of Electrophysics of the Ministry of Radio Technology. One of the Creators of the Friend-or-Foe Identification System.

Ildus S. Mostyukov was born in 1928 in Kazan. In 1947, he graduated from the Kazan Mechanic and Technological College. Since 1947, he worked at the Kazenergo Company as an engineer, power system operator, senior engineer of the Central Dispatch Service.

I.S. Mostyukov graduated from the Kazan Aviation Institute in 1958. From 1958, he worked at the design bureau No. 294 of the USSR Ministry of Radio Technology. In 1962, on the basis of Experimental Design Bureau-294, Research Institute No. 334 of the USSR Ministry of Radio Technology was established (since 1967 renamed to Kazan Research Institute of Electrophysics, later to Kazan Research Institute of Electronic Engineering). Ildus Mostyukov was appointed its first director and at the same time, since 1962, the chief designer of the friend-or-foe identification system.

By the decision of the CPSU Central Committee, Research Institute No. 334 was appointed the leading institute for the development of this system. After years of hard work, it resulted in the creation of the friend-or-foe identification system, which was compatible with similar American and NATO systems. The system was established in 1970 and after years of testing, in 1977 it was finally adopted.

Moreover, Ildus S. Mostyukov supervised the creation of a research base: new production facilities, testing grounds, experimental laboratories, social and cultural facilities.

For outstanding achievement in solving a particularly important task of the government, by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, dated July 2, 1980, Ildus S. Mostyukov was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Orders of Lenin (1980) and the Gold Medal Hammer and Sickle, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1971), the medal For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.
